The president of Zonkonia is a rather spoilt brat and a wet blanket, you might be wondering why the place still looks so colorful and cheery. However, that is because the residents aren't like the president. Guess where the president lives and works.

Ans: See the black tube on the top left? That is his office, he works in the tube itself...it's black and boring. And you see the bowling ball on top? Technically it was just a normal ball till one day he threw a tantrum. He didn't just throw a tantrum...he also threw 3 pairs of scissors up in his rage...so you can guess how the ball became a bowling ball.

This is a series of 2 paintings I did for my SAP coursework. I took really long to complete this (which is why I didn't post any art here for a long time)
I chose to do this because I wanted to challenge the viewers' perspectives on reality. If you observe closely, the elements/items in both paintings are largely the same, but have been perceived in different ways in the 2 different paintings. How does one define the boundaries of reality and imagination? I also wanted to show that what you think is boring may not necessarily be; it is up to you to create your own world with what you have.
The "common liking" among the examiners that came to talk to me was that they were intrigued by my use of bizarre colours in the 2nd artwork, and commented about how I managed to take weird and completely unrelated colours and somehow put them together in a unique way. Playing with colours is something I enjoy very much. Especially when people's eyes go @_@.

This is really really important to me and the Weiqi society so I am making an exception to post this on this blog.

SNOC (Singapore National Olympics Council) has rejected the application by the Weiqi team to compete for the upcoming Asian Games based on their guidelines that a team must be among the top 6 in order to qualify for a place to represent Singapore. However, all competitions joined previously by the players were on an individual basis as there was almost no team event (for the uninitiated, a team event consists of 5 player a side; the team wins when 3 or more of their players win) organized for Weiqi. The team has also offered to pay the full cost of the Asian Games trip themselves. Given this lack of chance and opportunity, SNOC’s rejection is unfair as the team has not been given a chance to prove their prowess in a team setting. In fact, SNOC’s rejection serves as a double whammy as it implicitly disregards the stellar performance of individual players previously and withholds a precious opportunity for the Weiqi team to unite and gain exposure as a team at the Asian Games.

Was just having lots of random ideas during class. Imagine if you made a window grill and then you put it over a lovely picture of a landscape or scenery then stick them together. So when you pick it up you have a window that shows a lovely scenery. Then you can paste it on any wall and no matter what you will always have a wonderful view outside the room, even if it is a prison cell!!! Even better if the fake landscape is a hologram then it'll really be 3-D!!! And people will look out of the "window" and admire the scenery!!! Also, you can create tons of different fake landscapes and paste them all over your house then people will wonder why when you look out of one window you see Japan and when you look out of the other you see Tibuktu

Ok should take a pic of my Landscape of the Mind which is totally nuts (It is drawing block size so can't scan in) like I drew a whole lot of siao ding dong stuff that would probably drive the teacher nuts.. E.g. there were pandas sticking their tongue out and traffic light without the green and red men inside and the green and red men had run somewhere else and there were cars which were actually hollowed-out apples on wheels with mice inside them..and a road which had a sign saying "Beware of the Zebra Crossing" and there is really a zebra crossing (as in the zebra, the animal, crossing the road) and a whole bunch of other crazy stuff...but a picture speaks a thousand words or more so maybe I should go find it I may have left it in my grandmother's house ZZZ I keep losing things spent a darn long time looking for my color pencils today, and then my pencils -_-

Story behind this apple-

Made the cute little apple and someone shook the table and it dropped and broke into three main pieces including the leaf. At first I was really really sad then I decided to turn it into a puzle instead and I purposely painted it 2 different colours as you can see

And LOL my teacher just couldn't resist glueing the 2 parts together and he put it in the kiln and now I CANT GET IT APART and it's not a puzzle but fine it still looks ok but would be nice if I could take it apart..

About 2 weeks ago I did this design for SAP reconnection which involved some Singapore-island shaped plug and another socket or something. Then he immediately said it was too cheesy and childish. But HAH in yesterday's newspaper there was this pluggy thingy in the newspaper done by one of those professional cartoonists and it copied my pluggy idea. Hah go tell that to the cartoonist whose name starts with F and ends with O or something. Goes to show I'm not really creative that other people also thought of it. But this proves art is actually very subjective. Like how there was this incident last time where they asked a 3-year-old to randomly splash paint on a canvas. Then they put it in a museum claiming it was done by a professional. And everyone wowed at it and thought it was "a great work of art indeed" because they really believed a professional did it. The end.

P.S. Watch out for my Lamppost Series which will be coming out after exams!

Firstly this is nothing to do with my own drawings..skip this if you want. In summary, it's my opinion on how some contemporary arts are so stupid and don't even deserve to be a part of art.

Here is what art is becoming these days.

I'm sure everyone knows about the stupid urinal. Done by some stupid guy, who I really can't appreciate. And it's famous and it's known as art. I feel like punching his face.

And there's this art which only consists of a black square. And it's famous too and everyone wows at it. I wow at how people respond so easily with Awe and Wonderment.

Contemporary art is really fake. In fact, it's just a euphemism to cover the actual meaning, which is "I'm too lazy to do a real artwork so I'll just come up with something stupid and slipshod then give it some old deep meaning."

There are many more examples of such brainless artworks, just that I don't really feel like polluting my blog now..

And I'm quite annoyed by the kind of art SAP exposes us to...it turns me off and going through SAP has made my liking for art decrease because it's mostly this kind of new lousy art (if it's not lousy, it'll be "emo" and weird..) I kind of start to forget what the real art used to be like..

This is just to tell you all that this is NOT what art is.

Now to end off on a better note I'll show you some real art, by Thomas Cole, called the Course of the Empire.

There! I drew the apple on paper with colour pencils then scanned it in. Then I used some small effect to make that apple look abit blurry.
Then I found some random brush tool on photoshop and started blotching colours everywhere as the background. By the way, if you have a laptop screen, slowly push down the screen and watch the colour change. Lol.
Any Fantasia citizen remembers owning this apple? =)
AHA i find my records. (This book is like, 3 years old!)

Here is the real Candyland. ask me if you want to see original. =) cos as i always said the computer makes the spirit of the picture kind of weird.

Woohoo practically everything is edible! See the river? The flavour changes everyday. Today, it's a strawberry-flavoured river. =)

Ooh and look at the trees! (in the pic theres only one though) They're cotton candy! With candy on the cotton candy too.

Ooh and lookie at the maze! It's made of lollipops! Great for kids, because when they get lost they can just crawl out through the lollipops.

Ooh and look at the bridge! It's chocolate!

Ooh see the two mystery thingies in the air? They're Flying Sweets! The two wrapper stuff on their sides are the wings! And there's a door.

Ooh and see the lollipop fences! and the M&M Pebbles (without melamine)

Ooh and last but not least see the clouds? Nice and flavoury and fluffy. ANd when it rains, it is NOT going to rain sticky chocolate or candy. Too troublesome. Instead, the clouds split open and mini sweets start raining down. =)

Yeah i am kind of done with candyland. I'm quite happy because i managed to solve the blackground problem. Before that I couldn't seem to get the right colours for the floor and sky. So as you can see now I've tried using a few colours blending together here and there. I did quite a bit of erasing. =P

Hmm this doesn't exactly look like what my real drawing is even though I tried retaking the photo a few times. (It's a handphone camera after all) If you want to see the real picture you can ask me in person, it's in my sketchbook. Somehow it has more...magic.

See the mushroom with a door? It's a mush-ROOM!

And also the flower with the strange..glow? It's a Shineflower! See the middle part in the centre of the petals? It's like a natural light bulb and a nice source of light.

Handphone camera pictures usually turn out a bit too dark *_* so here's a photoshopped image to make it look abit more like what the real thing looks like.

I assure you this is definitely more like what I had drawn. Obviously you're thinking I could scan in my pictures but..

No my scanner didn't spoil.

It's because my sketchbook has those curly binds at the side, and it's really thick.

Yay I enhanced the colours today (as in with real color pencil and stuff)

I changed the background of the picture. I tried erasing it since it was quite light then coloured over. =)
